Utter Magnificence!

Well if it isn't the photoshop king himself? BadReligionSkater! It was a pleasure working with you then, and it shall be a pleasure reviewing your submission now!

Let me start off by saying excellent job on this wonderful piece of work. Many would call it a, "shock flash," as it can make the viewer jump. However, you worked hard to achieve this shock. You are not simply playing a cheap sabotage with a blank screen or a photograph, you actually make the viewer expect something else; which simply put, is the best thing you could do. You're graphics were incredible as well! You have truly mastered the technique of creating your own particular style; a colorful, yet dark one. I was most impressed with the specific detail of the art. You put alot of care into the main character's walk and the shadows that are cast on him. No cheap shuffling, you're characters lifted their feet from the ground and moved in a realistic manner, (you would be surprised how many artists fail to do so). You're music choice was supurb as well. The music splits were perfectly on time, with the correct music to match the mood. A calm, relaxing melody to start off, and a fast-paced beat to match some mindless violence. This entire piece would be considered serio-comic. Begins friendly and ends hilarious. Truly an enjoyable experience to watch!

Fabulous work BadReligionSkater! I can't wait to see more from you. Much love, you're Italian buddy,

Some of you're best work yet!

Checking in on the portal, or just viewing everything that made front-page; I have watched your work improve David. Of course you have you're classics, such as Salad-Fingers, but it's great to see you experiment with a new type of style. Don't get me wrong, you are and always will be the king of dark/eerie style flash on Newgrounds! Here, you relied mostly on humor, and your own beliefs on "banning".
You had incredible graphics! I love watching you carry new drawings to your newer flashes. Even if at times it seems the character is only having it's mouth move, you add something new such as the flipping of the hair to make it more realistic. Unlike you're other flashes, you have considerably more than a few characters. Also the style of you're characters remains, "Doki", like.
The most important part of your flash, you're humor! I've never laughed at your flash as much as this one. Some voice overs sound pretty funny, but the humor remains in the whole premise of the story. Absolutely great, I love it!

Very nice work!

Being very familiar with the game, I have a few things to say about your flash;
First off, I really enjoyed you're drawings of the characters, it appeared that you put alot of effort into these drawings. What was also great was that you put your own interpretation of the character into them, if you disliked that particular fighter, you didn't just finish them off, you showed you're annoyance of them and their weakness, (Jigglypuff). I also enjoyed how you used sounds from SSBM, and also used them in the correct scenes in your flash, (can't tell you how important it is to do that).
Along with your good work, there is room for improvement. The white background for example, I know with your skills you could of at least put a simple scene from SSBM for that. I also did not enjoy the set up for each fight. It was too predictible to see two characters fight, one walks in and kills another, etc. Perhaps after each death, start it over with a new two. Finally, work some more on the relationship of the fighters. I really loved watching Roy and Marth fight Bowser, possibly the best scene, but the one with Fox and Falco was too corny and unbelievable. Well, that's all; great job UncompleteableTeaser!

Zelda: Lampshade Zelda: Lampshade

Rated 4.5 / 5 stars July 27, 2005

Utterly Astounding!

First, let me begin this review by saying that I'm a huge fan of you're flash animation! I've watched nearly everything you guys have created since "The Decline" series and you're awesome collaborations. I believed it was time that I finally was to review one of you're submissions!

I'll admit, this was the first game I have played out of you're creations besides the mini-games you have included in other flash. When I first saw "Zelda: Lampshade" on the front page, I immediately opened it up with high expectations. After all; "What can be better than an RPG made by the Flash Brothers be?" I was overwhelmed to see that the game soared way above my expectations! The first thing that struck me was the title. It was a great idea to create something involving the "Zelda" series after the enormous hype that's revolving it for the anticipation of the new game, "Twillight Princess". I could immediately presume by you're title that this was going to be a fun parody. Let's begin with the title screen, shall we? Just the relatable looking title and the correct choice of colors for the background were enough to inform me that this was going to be flash of immense quality. I was very right! The graphics are absolutely stunning, they are so incredibly smooth and the littlest of details can be seen through out. I also loved that each and every one of the characters followed you with their head! As for style, you couldn't have won more points. Firth is dark, Knox has claymation, the Flash Brothers own a comical blend of satire and original sleek animation. Now, basically the only thing I disliked slightly was the sound. Don't get me wrong, the music fit perfectly with the Zelda theme, it's just that it looped and I couldn't figure out a way to turn it off! Finally, this was interactive to the heavens and enjoyable as well; as we see cameos from Kirby, Dim...and even Tom Fulp! "Zelda: Lampshade" is an outrageously enjoyable RPG and all should try it out!

"Zelda: And The Lampshade of No Real Significane" Walkthrough:

I have seen alot of confusion within the reviews for this awesome flash, and I thought I should be as helpful as possible by writing a walkthrough of how to complete the game. Begin by moving Link into the black tunnel. There, you will immediately encounter a humongous lamp. Walk over to the outlet and unplug his cord by pressing action (space). After pulling the plug, he will keel over and reveal you're first item: the mystical lampshade. Climb up the ladder; you are now in the town of "Hyscule" Head north from where you are standing until you reach a dead-end; a knight named Randy guarding a bridge. He will give you a big bag of money awaiting some food. As you head south and to McDonald's, you'll see that a large man named John has bought the last food and drink available! Head south to where he is standing of this moment and head to the house where a large statue can be seen on the left. Talk to Dim at the end of the room and he will be thrilled that he can now buy his "Revolution" Walk to the table to the right to pick up the girly hair products. Head back to McDonald's and talk to Samus in the corner. She will give you a toy with that she received with her meal, a dangerous toy capable of killing. Go west, south, then west once more to come to a dark graveyard. Give the toxic toy to Heihachi in the far corner so he can finally rest in piece, then pick up his vase of flowers. Go east twice, then talk to Dan standing at the well. After pouring the water you had left in that container you will receive a frog of legend, no, not LegendaryFrog. Head west then north to come to an area with a large NewGrounds building. Feed the frog to Snake in the corner, and he will give you some Tiger Face Paint...which is perfect for stealth missions; is that any clue? Woops! Out of space; good luck!

A Diamond In The Rough!

I remember being on the portal that fourth of May, and voting five to protect this marvellous flash animation. Now, I have stumbled across yet it again and thought to myself, "Why not review a great flash that one of my best friends on the BBS made?". That's why I am here, my friend!

I'd like to begin by expressing my overall feelings towards the beginning of this game. Through all the trash that is submitted to the portal daily, viewing great flash like this is what make NewGrounds great! Before I opened the link leading with this marvel, I had a theory about how it would turn out; I was overly pleased to see that I was indeed, correct. My theory was this: "This is going to be a flash of hypnotic proportions. Like many of carmelhadinosaur's work, an incredible blend of colors, and things from the depth of the mans imagination will make to an excellent result" . It appears that the 3.67 you received speaks for itself! Now, on to you're flash animation. The graphics were stunning, blending a little bit of 3D animation, with some hand drawn art. Very visually pleasing. I also enjoyed that the same style of animation did not proceed throughout the entire flash. This makes the viewer more interested! You're style literally speaks for itself. As I have mentioned before, you're hypnotic art makes up for you're fantastic work. You're style is original and your's. One thing I didn't like was that you included the credits on the front screen! You could of easily put those at the end of you're slideshow! The music used for you're animation was KC & The Sunshine Band's, "Play That Funky Music White Boy". An odd choice, as it doesn't match you're work; still random and original, which does. One thing I would like to point out, a few minutes after muting the music, it automatically turns back on. You're interactivity in this game was it's main superiority! In most "show" flashes such as these as I call them, you only see the object jump up and down or wobble side to side, you're amazing theatrical performance of circular pastries do everything from melt to have pterodactyls fly from there. The whole concept of this animation was outstandingly humorous, but it did go a little too far at points. I didn't like the immaturity in #16 and #18. You're better than that! One final thing, I would like to point out that you used the money fish at the end! That was a fantastic piece of artwork you made and I am glad to see you are still keeping it! Great job my friend, I put you under my favorite artists!

Why thank you Romolo for the awesome review, score and all the compliments!!! :D
In my response i'd like to point out that the music comes back few seconds after it dissapears because I thought that being more time than time music length on this flash, needs not to have soundless parts.. (I originally had few musics/sounds, but... SIZE :P)
Also, i'm sorry if the music doesn't actually matches the flash, I just... loved this music so I put it :D
I wanted the credits to fit in with the flash, so I just put it like this hopefully not disturbing anything... :P
Well, see ya in the BBS lol :D

Adventures of Buttlock Adventures of Buttlock

Spectacular!

Fantastic! This game was a real treat, a total surprise. I was expecting something very simple, something not as interactive as this game, however; I was sure surpirsed to find that I was very wrong! The graphics were astounding, especially the introduction; I saw a little of detail as the main character pointed to the shooting star. Thus, you have mastered style. With you're unusual blend of anime and Dan Paladin-esque graphics, the game makes up for a very enjoyable experience. The sound & music correctly fit each scene, however; in a few adventures (Level III for example), it felt looped and slightly annoying. That can easily be fixed though! Last but not least; the interactivity of the game was fantastic! You made sure the player would not get bored by adding completely different and new elements to every level! If there is but one thing I dislike about this flash, was the very beginning, (the dungeon door and the credits). The music was correctly put, and the voice over to read the credits was nice; but I felt it moved to slow. This meant nothing to the final product though, fantastic job!

"Adventures of Buttlock" Walkthrough

Here is a helpful walkthrough that I have pieced together while playing the game. Here you are!

Level I: After being knocked down to the castle grounds, you must find yourself back to the hills. In this level, you walk around with a sword and shield. A to swing your sword, and S to duck down and block with your shield. As you move forward, you will be attacked by small green creatures (Possibly Gremlins), and large ogres with clubs. You can easily take down the gremlins with one swat of your sword with no need to block; however the ogres are slightly more difficult. Try to constantly whack your sword at them, and when they lift up their club, block. Eventually they will collapse. Once you reach the end of the castle yard, you will ecounter your first boss.
BOSS "Alien": This guy is easier than he looks. While he is flying in the air, remember to look out for his bombs; which will explode with impact to the ground. Also, an endless count of gremlins will be here, no problem however. When the alien lands, he will roll a bomb at you. Press S to block it and it will roll back to his big green self. Once hit, he will be momentarily stunned. You will have a chance to whack him a few times. Repeat until death.

Level II: BOSS "Shadow Monster"
Here is the same baddy who stole your girlfriend! He's semi-difficult, but you can take him. You are flying in the Alien's ship, you're controls are to fly around, and you can press A to drop a bomb. You can only damage him when his mouth is open. There will be two occasions when you can do this; when he opens his mouth in anger, and when he attempts to suck in his surroundings. My suggestion would be to hover at the very top near his left side, and wait for him to open. There will be a few attacks you need to dodge however. Every once in awhile, he will throw his arm to the far left side. This will not affect you if you are placed where I suggested though. The next is when he will dissapear to the bottom of the screenand hurl trees; very easy to dodge. Lastly, he will curl over and try to spike you. Merely remember this, he will not spike the same location twice. Good luck!

Level III: You are now a cool looking ninja in a building with confusing mazes. Press A to slash your sword, and B to hurl a shuriken. You'll only ecounter two enemies here, a samurai who will hide behind his shield, and a fire belching machine. To defeat the samurai, wait till he moves the shield to lift up his mace, then strike. Not only will you negate his attack, you'll damage him. The machines are extremely easy, one swipe and they'll explode. One last thing to remember in this level. Your ninja power, you can bounce from wall to wall here. Use that to your advantage!

Whoops, ran outta space! Good luck everyone!

The Full Circle

Sounds tight - a perfect mix of intelligent lyrical content with a jazzy and alternative beat. It very much reminds me of the Oakland rap group "Hieroglyphics", and the main singer's voice and style bears a striking resemblance to that of Del Tha Funkee Homosapien.

My only issue with his song is that the occasionally monotonic singer falls flat compared to the beat. Other than that - awesome work!

Thanks and you aren't the first to compare this track to the Hieroglyphics. I wasn't at my peak when I recorded the vocals and will probably attempt to redo this track someday. Thank you for the constructive criticism.

Nice and Smooth

Reminds me of something out of a Kerouac novel. "The lights are dim, the drinks are long, and the tempo's strictly easy, baby."

My one problem is that I have to turn up the volume to listen to this tune. It's rather quiet. Other than that, it's hands down my favorite audio submission on NG.

Beautiful!

There was a review for Charles Dutoit and L'Orchestre Symphonique de Montréals reading of Fauré's "Berceuse, Op.16" that fits perfectly to this work of art.

"It flows like water through your speakers..."

Magnificent work.
